Conquer the Coast™
Conquer the Coast™ is an annual cycling event held in Corpus Christi, Texas, each September. The event features a 68-mile ride which encompasses the Corpus Christi Bay including a beautiful sunrise ride over Harbor Bridge; a route through the coastal communities and fishing villages of Portland, Ingleside, Aransas Pass, and Port Aransas; a ferry ride across the intercoastal canal; a scenic cruise down Padre Island crossing over the JFK Causeway; a tour through Naval Air Station-Corpus Christi and a bike friendly path down Ocean Drive. A 17-mile and 10-mile ride also are available for individuals and families.
Part of the 68-mile ride is a timed ride deemed “the Toughest 18 miles in Texas.” More than 1,500 people ride; only 40 percent of the riders are from the Corpus Christi area. Proceeds from the ride benefit Tarpon Foundation, which provides scholarships for the TAMUCC Islander Athletics Program and the Chamber Foundation.
