Leadership Corpus Christi
Leadership Corpus Christi is the third-oldest community leadership program in the country. Established in 1972, it serves as an elite training program for emerging and existing leaders. Over a period of nine months, class participants learn about Corpus Christi’s history, economy, government structure as well as social issues and needs of the community. The program starts in September and ends in May; applications are accepted each spring.
More than 1,000 people have graduated from the program and have positively impacted the community. Members of Leadership Corpus Christi are business/professional people who demonstrate a concern for community issues and who want to contribute to the growth and betterment of Corpus Christi. The selection process is rigorous and competitive for only 30 spots in each class.
Class participants meet each month for professional development training, tours, seminars and activities that inspire leadership. The program agenda brings in Leadership Corpus Christi alumni; business, civic and government leaders and more for discussion and question and answer sessions.
Eligibility:
- Applicants must be 18 or over and demonstrate a concern for community issues
- Public officials (except for precinct chairpersons) are not eligible
- Couples also are not eligible to participate in the same class
- Prior non-acceptance does not affect future consideration for selection
