2008 Business Person of the Year
It is my pleasure to introduce our final award recipient, the 2008 Business Person of the Year. This individual has been a proud supporter of our community and our business for many years. In 1988 he took the reigns of the family business by becoming their Chief Executive Officer. Prior to 1988 he held numerous positions within the company including Director, General Manager and Vice President of Operations. Today, his company operates over 320 locations and fuels over 380 other similar locations. Fuels... remember that... its a key word... fuels...
The 2008 Business Person of the Year has served in the corporate finance division and the mergers and acquisitions group and currently serves on a number of charitable, education and civic organizations. You’ll know this individual’s name… well… “When it hits ya!”
This individual encourages his company to build upon their existing community partnerships while always seeking to find new & creative partnership opportunities. His company’s corporate citizenship includes charitable contributions and benefit fundraisers supporting local organizations such as: TAMUCC, Golf & Fishing Tournaments, supporting County Law Enforcement, Go Red for Women, Career Night at Rose Shaw Elementary, the Brownsville Children’s Museum, Fall Festival at Tuloso-Midway ISD, Sand Castle Days 2007, Exploring Under the Sea and the SPC Summer Funfest Fitness Contest.
He has served on the advisory council for the College of Business at TAMUCC, has been a trustee and Past Chairman of the Driscoll Foundation, a director and Past President for the USS Lexington Museum, director of the Texas State Aquarium, the Treasurer of Congregation Beth Israel and a former director and Vice Chairman of the Corpus Christi Regional Economic Development Corporation.
With our 2008 Business Person of the Year’s leadership, his family company is sure to continue to invest in our community while expanding and improving their own numbers. With his help, the company is sure to remain one of the Top 20 US Businesses of its kind.
